Hike Mount Nittany
Hike Mount Nittany! Even if you aren't into hiking, you have to do it once. With nearly 9 miles of volunteer-maintained trails and scenic views, Mt. Nittany offers a unique setting for local recreation.

The Creamery Ice Cream
Visit the creamery for State College's most famous ice cream. Visit the creamery and see what fun flavors are on the menu today! Remember, mixing flavors is only allowed if your name is Joe Paterno.

Penn Skates
Penn Skates Roller Rink and Family Fun Center, located less than a mile from Nittany Glen, offers roller skating and other great activities for all ages.

Schlow Centre Regional Library
The Schlow Centre Regional Library has an outstanding children's department that features not only a great selection of books, music and videos, but also has an ever revolving schedule of fun activities.

Two Thousand Degrees Pottery
2000 Degrees is a great place to spend time with the kids and bring home a beautiful keepsake. With only a few minutes of instruction, customers can decorate pottery which will then be clear glazed and fired. Choose from hundreds of pieces of pre-fired pottery. Fun for kids 4 - 84!! This fun place doesn't have a website, but you can call them at 814-234-1151 for more information or visit them downtown at 202 West College Avenue.

Penn State Ice Rink
The Penn State Ice Rink indoor skating facilities are provided all year round at Penn State by Intercollegiate Athletics' Recreational Services. Visit them for public sessions, open hockey, figure skating, private lessons and more. They also have clinics for hockey and figure skating for those just learning to those who have been skating for years. Rent the main rink or studio ice for birthday parties, broomball and other special events.

PSU Stargazing
Weekly stargazing is sponsored by the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics and The Astronomy Club during PSU's Fall & Spring semesters. There is also a great "AstroFest" program that is usually held during the weeks of the Arts Festival!

Penn's Cave
Incredible all-water cavern and wildlife park nestled in Central PA. This is an experience that you and your family won't forget. Breathtakingly beautiful and unique underground formations will captivate young and old alike. Try the wildlife tour to learn about North American animals such as bears, wolves, elk, deer, bobcats, bison, longhorn cattle, mustangs and even the cougar!

Shaver's Creek
Shaver's Creek is Penn State's nature center. PSU faculty, staff and students provide great opportunities for kids to commune and learn about nature. Visit anytime or during the very popular Children's Halloween Trail or Maple Harvest Festival!

Whipple Dam State Park
Whipple Dam is a favorite destination for lots of State College locals. The 256-acre Whipple Dam State Park is a delightful and quiet place to visit. The lake is the perfect place to indulge in a refreshing dip, bird watch or just relax. The beautiful day use area is wonderful for a picnic or hike.

Millbrook Marsh Nature Center
Millbrook Marsh Nature Center is located in the heart of Centre County - in College Township - and is easily accessible to residents, visitors, and school groups. Creative Oasis
The Creative Oasis is Centre County's largest public non-profit art studio, offering individual and group instruction for children and adults. Check out their website for children's classes, camps and workshops.

Tussey Mountain Family Fun Center
Year round fun! Skiing and snow tubing are the feature during the winter months, but there is plenty to do in the summer too! Try the driving range, par 3 golf course, batting cages, paddleboats and go-kart track. Plus check with them for seasonal festivals & concerts.

First Thursdays in Downtown State College
This monthly event designed to showcase and stimulate the cultural, intellectual, and entertainment talent in the Centre Region has activities and events for children and adults alike. Visit the website for details for this month's "First Thursday".

Boal Museum & Columbus Chapel
The Boal Museum & Columbus Chapel in Boalsburg is a real gem tucked away on the outskirts of State College, PA. Eight generations of the Boal family have lived the story of America, and even have a tangible family connection with our famous founding father, Christopher Columbus. The Columbus Chapel is the most important Columbus collection on the North American continent. Perfect for your budding historian!

The Pennsylvania Military Museum
This is another wonderful place for your young historian in Boalsburg. The Museum recounts the story of Commonwealth citizen's who served our country in defense of the nation.

Spela is a wonderful children's shop and cafe that has Sing Along time every Friday at 10:30 am for the little ones. Admission is free.
